COVENANT
Mini-Cassia Community Christian Church
We Agree…
That the kingdom of God is bigger than any individual or group of people. We earnestly seek to do God’s will for our congregation. In all that we do, the Word of God will be our guide, and we will all earnestly seek out His will for “His” church by prayer and following the guiding of the Holy Spirit in all aspects of Church life. In all things we will work at setting aside personal agendas, and focus on the task of taking the message of Christ to our community and world. If a difference of opinion does arise, we agree to seek resolution in a God-honoring, biblical manner as laid out for us in Scripture.
We will esteem, love, and be respectful of others, even if we have different opinions on issues. We will support and respect the appointed leadership of the congregation, even in areas of personal disagreement. Our ultimate goal is to unify, not divide, that we may truly become “one” in Christ. At the same time we recognize that change and progress require us to think new thoughts and consider new methods, just as we read in scripture that “new wine needs new wineskins.” Our methods may out of necessity change over time but we dedicate ourselves to holding true to the teaching of the inerrant Word of God.
We recognize that change and improvement issues are subjective, involving varying methods and stylistic tastes. We will strive to be open to new ideas and sincerely weigh the pluses and minuses, not limiting God by our ideas or personal desires. We want to become the best we can be at fulfilling God’s mission for His church within our community and world. We will seek to do this with faith, hope, love, and obedience to God. If He takes us down new roads, we will trust Him. If he calls us to enable others to do what we are not able to do, we will do that. We will encourage others not only by words of encouragement but also by our active participation. In all endeavors be they big or small, God’s work must progress. We will diligently pray and seek His wisdom to know how far and how fast to go, and in what direction to go. This applies to us as individuals and as an entire congregation.
We agree to make this a concerted effort. To be a team that pulls in tandem, all using our God-given gifts and abilities for the betterment of the body, and the evangelization of the world. We will strive to reflect the attitude of Christ, to be blameless and pure, among the members of our own body and in the world in which we live. We commit ourselves to being light and salt within our sphere of influence. Our goal is not to win individually, but to use our gifts and abilities to help the body win as a whole, to do our part in fulfilling the supreme task of the church which is the evangelization of the world! We commit to the above stated, knowing full well that when we seek out God’s guidance and direction in all we do, He will bless our actions that are carried out on His behalf.
